What working together looks like

With children
I use play therapy because it allows kids to express and work through things in a way that feels natural and engaging for them. Sessions are often fun, but also purposeful. I focus on building skills and helping them feel more confident, rather than making them feel like something is wrong with them. I also design custom activities tailored to your child’s specific interests, preferences, and needs.

With teens and adults
My approach is pretty down-to-earth and collaborative. We focus on understanding what’s happening, especially patterns like anxiety or overthinking, and finding ways to respond differently in real-life situations. I’m not overly clinical or rigid. The goal is to create a space where you can be comfortable, and look at challenging patterns together with curiosity and compassion.

You might be dealing with something like this:

  • Anxiety that leads to avoidance or overthinking

  • A child who needs constant reassurance or struggles with confidence

  • Feeling stuck in patterns that keep repeating, even when you try to change them

  • Wanting to help your child but not knowing what actually works

I work with children, teens, adults, and families in Northern Virginia, helping people better understand anxiety and respond to it in ways that actually helps.

  • Practical, structured approach

  • Strong focus on anxiety and OCD

  • Parent support included when working with kids

  • In-person office in Reston, VA

Therapy for anxiety, OCD, and emotional challenges in children, teens, and adults

Why I focus on anxiety

A lot of the people I work with are dealing with anxiety in some form. What I’ve seen over time is that many of the ways people try to manage anxiety actually ends up making it worse. Things like avoiding, overthinking, or needing reassurance can help in the moment, but tend to reinforce the cycle long-term.

Anxiety can quietly shrink people’s lives. It can limit experiences, relationships, and confidence. A big part of my work is helping people understand what’s happening and build the ability to tolerate discomfort so they can move toward what matters to them.

I also work with concerns like depression, self-harm, and trauma, which often show up alongside anxiety.

Background & Experience

Before starting my private practice, I worked in a range of settings including group practice, intensive in-home therapy, hospital-based care, and work connected to schools and the juvenile justice system.

Much of that work involved supporting children, teens, and families in high-stress situations, including trauma, behavioral challenges, and safety concerns, often in everyday environments rather than just an office setting.

That experience continues to shape how I work now. I utilize a holistic approach to understand how we got here and to inform where to go next. I tend to focus on what is realistic and helpful in day-to-day life.
